Excel Shanon Corporation, one of our group companies, manufactures and sells “Shanon" plastic window sashes, which are provided with excellent characteristics of air tightness, heat and sound insulation, and moisture condensation proof.
With the Kyoto Protocol on preventing global warming in effect, Japan is obliged to achieve a 6% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions over average 1990 levels between 2008 and 2012. Although reductions are being steadily achieved in the industrial sectors, household emissions are on the rise and need to be addressed through effective measures. In this regard, plastic window sashes are receiving attention due to their excellent energy saving characteristics. A simulation run by the “Plastic Window Sash Promotional Committee" indicates a significant improvement in insulation efficiency or some 40% reduction in CO2 emissions can be achieved per house, if windows of single glass with aluminum sashes are replaced with those of double glass of low thermal emission with plastic sashes. Shanon's plastic window sashes are a promising energy saving measure that will contribute to the prevention of global warming.
