Product overview

Sodium bicarbonate is produced by reacting carbon dioxide in high-quality caustic soda. In a high-temperature and humid atmosphere, sodium bicarbonate slowly releases carbon dioxide as it decomposes. Because it is the least alkaline of all sodium compounds, sodium bicarbonate is used in a wide range of applications from medical products to daily goods.

General usages

Sodium bicarbonate is used in varying degrees of granularity for pharmaceutical, food additive, livestock feed, and industrial applications.

Special characteristics

  • Low alkalinity in water solution (pH level of about 8)
  • Releases carbon dioxide while decomposing in high-temperature, moist atmospheres
  • Useful as a pH buffering agent
