Research Facilities

Tokuyama has a two-pronged research facility base structure with the Tsukuba Research Lab. in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki, and Tokuyama Research Lab. in Shunan City, Yamaguchi.

Tsukuba Research Lab.

The Tsukuba Research Lab. is situated in the peaceful setting of Tsukuba Science City.

After expanding the Tsukuba Research Lab. in June 1999, Tokuyama reinitiated research activities with the integration of research laboratories in the Kanto area into Tsukuba Research Lab., as a central research facility, in November 1999.

The lab. conducts long-term research into cutting-edge technologies, particularly in areas such as new materials, sensors, medical products, and organic fine chemicals. It also studies user interaction based on "market-in" principles, by examining end-user requests concerning product features and customer service systems.

Tokuyama Research Lab.

Located in the Tokuyama Factory site, the Tokuyama Research Lab. is in charge of Tokuyama's core R&D and takes advantage of its close proximity to the production facilities to incorporate manufacturing requirements into new product development in a timely manner. Utilizing the state-of-the-art technologies, the Lab. pursues a wide range of basic and applied research projects in areas as diverse as process development, basic chemical products, inorganic fine chemicals, cement and concrete, construction materials, and plastics and films.
