The Chemicals Business Division manufactures and sells a broad range of chemicals such as caustic soda, chlorinated products including vinyl chloride monomer and various solvents, soda ash, sodium silicate, calcium chloride, and isopropyl alcohol.
These products are used as raw materials for various products used in our daily life, such as glass, detergent, paint and an antifreezing agent, and also used as materials essential to production processes in a wide range of industrial fields.
The Chemicals Development Dept. strives to develop new products that meet the future demands and develop energy-efficient and environmentally friendly production processes, while working to further deepening and strengthening technologies the company has built up over a period of many years. We apply catalytic reaction analysis and simulation technology to the development of technologies for large-scale chlorine derivative reactors that make up our massive chemical plants. We are also working to open up new uses for sodium silicate and other products by adding new features.
Tokuyama dates back to 1918, when it began producing soda ash, a raw material used for glass production. We will continue to take on new challenges in the development of attractive products and technologies with global competitiveness, while maintaining and refining the founding spirit of sticking to manufacturing only the best.
