Tokuyama Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the Company" or "Tokuyama") hereby announces that it has determined to open the No. 2 Tsukuba Research Laboratory (provisional name) to strengthen research and development for the purpose of achieving the business portfolio transformation laid out in the Medium-Term Management Plan 2025.

The Company plans to acquire land and buildings located in the vicinity of the Company's Tsukuba Research Laboratory for the No. 2 Tsukuba Research Laboratory (provisional name), which is scheduled to begin operations in January 2023. Slated to engage in research and development in the healthcare field with a focus on developing medical materials and diagnostic reagents, as well as in environmental field related to carbon neutrality, several of the functions of the Tsukuba Research Laboratory will be transferred to the No. 2 Research Laboratory. Meanwhile, the existing Tsukuba Research Laboratory will concentrate on research and development in the electronics field with a focus on next-generation semiconductor related materials, while maintaining its dental material research and development function as led by Tokuyama Dental Corporation. In addition, the Company plans to install pilot equipment at both research laboratories in order to establish a system with the ability to rapidly address user needs.

As a result of vastly strengthening the Tsukuba region research and development functions, the Company will spur the creation of new products and businesses in the electronics, healthcare, and environmental growth field.
