Tokuyama Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Tomohiro Inoue) today announced that it will install new production equipment at its Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (Yanai City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan) to increase its production capacity for aluminum nitride granules by approximately 50% from the current level. commercial operation is scheduled to begin in February 2028.

Aluminum nitride is a high-performance ceramic material offering excellent thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, and resistance to corrosion by plasma gas. Aluminum nitride granules are produced by processing the powder into granular form to improve ease of handling during molding. Demand for the granules is growing as a heat-dissipation material that supports the stable operation of semiconductors and other electronic components.

Tokuyama began manufacturing aluminum nitride powder at its Tokuyama Factory (Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan) in 1985 and, in response to customer needs, added granule production facilities at the same site, supporting the growth of the semiconductor industry. This new investment follows the expansion of aluminum nitride powder production capacity at the Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology announced on September 10, 2026, and will establish an integrated production system from powder to granules.

The need for heat dissipation in electronic components is expected to continue rising as semiconductor performance advances. Through this capacity expansion, Tokuyama will respond to growing demand and strengthen its system for ensuring a stable supply to customers.
