Photochromic dye materials are clear resins that change color to either gray or brown when exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays, and return to their colorless state when no longer exposed. Tokuyama employs a casting method and a coating method to cover the plastic lenses with photochromic compounds that become colored by ultraviolet rays.
