By using the photochromic binder sheet, it becomes possible to impart excellent photochromic properties to large-area items made from materials other than conventional spectacle lenses, for which achieving such performance has traditionally been difficult. The base sheet material is mainly polycarbonate, but applications to other substrates are also under consideration.
